Course content: Empathy Day – maximising its impact

Dates: 18 or 25 April

Every June, Empathy Day galvanises and inspires hundreds and thousands of young people to learn more about empathy, and put it into action. This course is your guide to creating a powerful Day in your setting. It will:

  • Outline the campaign’s structure and how to use the national momentum of a day focused on celebrating and developing our empathy superpower
  • Guide you through the Mission Empathy toolkits, activities and resources, helping you plan 6 June itself, and also the run-up
  • Build your understanding of how to harness the input of authors and illustrators, including a national assembly led by Malorie Blackman and Michael Rosen
  • Support you in thinking creatively about linking the books in your setting to the READ activities
  • Help you plan how to use the CONNECT activities to improve empathic communication and vocabulary for emotions
  • Help you plan how to use the ACT focus to support young people to put empathy into action
