Empathy Day 2020

Never has empathy and connection been more needed. Empathy Day is on 9 June.
What is empathy?
Empathy is our ability to understand another person and feel their emotions. It's a force for change because it makes us want to help people.

Empathy Day helps us understand each other better by using books to step into someone else's shoes. When you read, your brain reacts as it would to real events. This makes books the perfect empathy boosting vehicle. Train your brain with stories!

What can I do on Empathy Day?

READ  -  find and start an empathy boosting book

CONNECT -  practice listening 100%

ACT -  use your empathy skills to make a difference

This year, Empathy Day will need to be online. We are busy planning a host of free, creative, empathy focused activities that can be used by teachers, librarians and parents.

Join in, connect, make a difference.

Our Schools and Libraries Toolkits, are already available and we will be producing a Families Pack which children can enjoy with their parents and carers at home.

Watch out for online activities as we count down to Empathy Day from 26 May 2020.

On 9 June 2020, access a full programme of activities and engaging online events, featuring major children's authors, focusing on our three calls to action - Read - Connect - Act.
